Patch notes
What's changing on MMO Reconnect
Consider these our patch notes. We update the site most days, often straight from feedback in the community Discord. This page is the plain-English record of what changed and why. No jargon, no commit logs.

#The flag form no longer asks you to sign in before you can type, and World of Warcraft: Forever flags say which ruleset you are on and take both of your names.
- New
Every plans board's flag form now opens for anyone. Say who you are playing, or plan your launch character, and press save; the sign-in comes then, with a card showing your draft above the Discord button. Sign in with Discord, email or a passkey, choose a handle if you are new, and your flag is saved and you are on the board with your row lit, without seeing the form again. The sign-in wall stood between the board's door and the form, and that is where people left. A wall after you have written something is a smaller ask than a wall before, and the draft is the reason to finish. The draft stays in your browser tab until you save; nothing is sent until then, and closing the tab discards it.
- Improved
If you already have a flag on that board and fill the form signed out, signing in shows you what you wrote before it replaces anything, with one button to save it, a "Change something" link to reopen the form, and "Discard draft" to keep your flag as it was. A draft written before you signed in should never overwrite a flag you planted on purpose without you seeing both.
- New
The Forever board groups flags by ruleset: Normal, PvP, and Roleplaying. Pick yours on the flag form, or go back to a flag you planted earlier and add it. Hardcore joins the list when Blizzard dates it. Forever does not put your character on a server. You choose a ruleset at character creation, and you can only group with people on the same one, so the ruleset is what a friend needs to know to play with you.
- New
A World of Warcraft: Forever flag now has two name fields, the same two you filled in at character creation: your main name and your secondary name. Friends can search either word, and the board shows both. In Forever a main name can belong to many characters. The pair is what makes you you, and it is what an old guildmate will remember.

#Search remembers whether you left Advanced search open, and the plans boards tidy their chrome: filters appear only when they can narrow, the Art switch sits by the tiles, reporting moves into a row menu, and every board ends with cards for the other boards. A one-class board stops inviting you to plan a trio. The Skyborne have faces. And with the World of Warcraft: Forever beta open, the board's door says "I'm in the beta", the flag form asks who you are playing first, and saving lands you on the board with your row lit.
- Improved
Search now remembers whether you left Advanced search open, so it is where you left it the next time you come back. A link that already carries filters still opens the panel, whatever you last chose. Advanced search folds away by default so the search box stays simple. People who use the filters every visit were opening it every visit. The choice is remembered in your browser only, never on our side.
- Fixed
A board's Narrow by filters now appear only when they can narrow something. A board with one flag, or one where every plan shares the same race or class, used to show a Narrow by label with nothing after it, or buttons that all returned the same rows. It read as a broken filter. The label and its buttons now arrive as the board fills.
- Improved
The Art / Text switch now sits at the left of the filter row, right above the race and class tiles it changes. It was on the far right beside Advanced search, a whole row away from the tiles. A control belongs next to the thing it changes.
- Improved
Each plan on a board now has a small menu at its end holding Report this plan. The flag that sat right next to the owner's handle is gone. It was the easiest thing on the row to hit by accident. The report door stays, one click deeper, behind a target that means "more" and is big enough to hit on purpose.
- New
Every plans board now ends with a card for each of the other boards: the game's mark, its name, its status and how many flags are planted there. The plain lines are gone. A line said where the link went. A card gives you a reason to follow it.
- Fixed
Before launch, the Monsters & Memories and World of Warcraft: Forever boards invited you to plant a flag with "the race, the trio, and the world". Both games give a character one class, so the line now says "the class". EverQuest Legends keeps its trio. The sentence was written once for every board when only EverQuest Legends had one. The flag form already asked for your class; the board now agrees with it.
- New
The Skyborne have faces. Wherever a World of Warcraft: Forever race tile renders, a Skyborne plan now shows a portrait instead of our drawn wing, for both factions. Blizzard has published portraits for every other race and none yet for the Skyborne. These two are our own crops of in-game captures, an interim stand-in until Blizzard publishes its own, which will replace them in place.
- Improved
The Skyborne now wear their faction's face: High Order Skyborne for the Alliance and Windshaper Skyborne for the Horde, in both body types, cropped from the beta's character creation. The first interim faces were one crop for both factions, taken before the beta opened. The beta's character screen names and frames the two apart, so the site does too. Still our own crops of in-game captures, still interim until Blizzard publishes its own.
- New
While a game runs a beta or playtest, its plans board's door speaks your tense: "I'm in the beta" on World of Warcraft: Forever, "I'm playing now" on Monsters & Memories, with "plant a flag for launch day" as the quiet link beside it. The kicker says the stage is running now, next to the launch date. The beta opened tonight and friends arrive because they are in it. A door that said "Plant your flag" asked them to speak about launch day first. When the beta closes the door reads "Plant your flag" again on its own.
- Improved
While a stage runs, the flag form leads with what you are playing: press the stage, then name, race and class, then who can find you. Your launch plan is written from that in one line, with "Planning something different at launch?" if it differs. Press the stage again to switch it off and the same form is the launch-day form, nothing you typed lost. The thing a friend came to say was the fifth act of a form about launch day. Now it is the first, and the launch plan follows from it unless you say otherwise.
- New
Saving your flag now lands you on the board with your own row lit, and one line above the list: "You're on the board. Share it with the people you played with", with a Copy board link button. A Private flag still lands on your profile, since it is not on the board. The point of the evening is seeing who else is there. A settings page is where a session ends; the board is where it starts. The board still never asks who is reading it: the lit row comes from a link that names your handle, which the row already shows.
- Improved
On your profile, the "Playing now" line has a real "Update what you're playing" button in place of a small Revise link. A signed-in player who had not chosen a handle yet and opened the flag form is now brought back to the form after choosing one, instead of to their profile. The sign-in wall above a flag form says "Say what you're playing" as its third step, not "Claim your characters". The one thing an owner wants to change during a beta was the smallest text on the page. The other two were small leaks in the path a brand-new player walks tonight.

#World of Warcraft characters now show real race art, every plan on a board shows its race and class as two tiles with a switch to codes, and the pickers stop stranding a lone tile on its own row.
- New
World of Warcraft characters now show Blizzard's own race portraits instead of our placeholder symbols. Every playable race is covered, so Retail and Classic rosters get them too, not just Forever. The Skyborne keep our own drawn sigil, because Blizzard has not published art for them yet. The race slot was the weakest part of a Forever page: six of the ten races fell back to a plain ring that was only ever meant as a safety net, and Troll borrowed EverQuest's symbol. The portraits come from Blizzard's own site under the same terms as the class icons already here, shown at full size and unmodified apart from the badge's rounded corners, with their notices alongside.
- Improved
Race badges are now soft squares, matching the class badges, so a character's race and class read as one pair. The class badge became a soft square yesterday because the art in it is square. Race art turned out to be square too, so the badge follows it for the same reason. EverQuest and Monsters & Memories race symbols move with them, which keeps a roster spanning several games looking like one column.
- Fixed
The race and class pickers now spread their tiles evenly instead of filling the first row and leaving the remainder stranded. The nine Forever classes were wrapping as eight and then one, and the ten races as eight and then two. The two races left on the second row were both Skyborne, which made it look as though the newest races had been set apart from the rest. Tiles now split evenly across the rows, and the number of rows never grows, so nothing moves further down the page than before.
- Improved
A plan on a board now leads with two tiles, its race and then its class, with the art you already know: Blizzard's portraits and class icons on World of Warcraft boards, our sigils elsewhere. A plan that has not decided its race or class keeps an empty dashed tile in that spot, so every row lines up. A plan with a race but no class used to show a large portrait next to rows that showed a small class chip, and the two did not read as the same thing. Now every row is the same pair of tiles, whatever the plan has decided.
- New
A switch above each board, next to Advanced search, changes how race and class show: Art (the tiles) or Text (short codes in a badge, race first, then the classes). Your pick is remembered in your browser. On EverQuest Legends a full trio in tiles does not name the classes, and some people read a /who line faster than three symbols. The text mode is for them, and it stays out of everyone else's way.
- Fixed
The flag form's "Your flag on the board" preview now matches the board exactly. It used to lead with the race where the board led with the class.

#Class badges are now soft squares, so World of Warcraft class art fills them properly.
- Improved
Every class badge is now a soft square instead of a circle, and World of Warcraft class art fills it edge to edge. Before, Blizzard's square icon sat shrunken inside a round badge, which showed as a small square floating in a circle on classes whose artwork runs light at the corners, like Rogue, Mage and Druid. EverQuest and Monsters & Memories class symbols move to the same soft square, so a roster spanning several games reads as one column again. Race badges stay round. The class art these games use is square, so a square badge fits it without shrinking it or cutting it. Blizzard's icons are still shown at full size and unmodified, apart from the badge's own rounded corners, and their notices go with them as before. The rounded corner is the only change to how the art is drawn: no zooming, no recolouring and no round crop.

#World of Warcraft looks more like itself, your own pages now glow in your colour, and Search gets a crest of its own.
- Improved
The Forever board, its flag form, the front page card and your /me doorway now carry the World of Warcraft: Forever mark and the game's own teal and bronze, instead of the blue and gold every other World of Warcraft page wears. Forever is a new timeline with its own look, and Blizzard published a mark for it. Their fan site terms let a non-commercial site show it with their credit line, which is now in the footer and on the Terms page. World of Warcraft, Warcraft and Blizzard Entertainment are trademarks or registered trademarks of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. in the U.S. and/or other countries.
- Improved
Every World of Warcraft character now shows Blizzard's own class icon inside its class ring: on your roster, in search and Browse, on server, guild and character pages, and on the Forever board and flag form. EverQuest and Monsters & Memories characters keep their class symbols. World of Warcraft players know a class by its icon. Blizzard lets a non-commercial fan site show its game images as long as they are not modified and its notices come with them, so the icons appear exactly as Blizzard serves them, never cropped or recolored. The footer and the Terms page now carry Blizzard's full notice: ©2004 Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. All rights reserved. World of Warcraft, Warcraft and Blizzard Entertainment are trademarks or registered trademarks of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. in the U.S. and/or other countries.
- Improved
Your profile, roster and settings pages now glow softly in your avatar's colour, radiating from your picture at the top. Pick a new colour in Settings and the light changes with it. Those pages are about you, so the light is yours rather than the site's. On your profile, your newest reconnection keeps its own glow and your picture stays unlit, so the two never compete. If you show your Discord photo instead of a letter, the page stays as it was.
- Improved
Search now opens with a crest beside "Who are you looking for?". Pick a game under Advanced search and the crest and its glow switch to that game's. Search is one of the two front doors, and it looked bare next to Browse. The crest shows which part of the site you are searching.
- Improved
On your profile, the cards for hails and reconnections got clearer. Each one leads with the character's name, class and game. When someone hails you, Not sure and a gold Hail back sit together at the top, and I remember you too, Block and Report are easy to spot below. Reconnection cards put Message on Discord and Stop sharing as clear buttons along the bottom. Hail back was still wearing Discord's colours from before Hail got its own look, and the cards repeated what their headings already said while hiding some choices in small text. Now each card says it once and every choice is easy to find, on a phone too.

#World of Warcraft: Forever has a board. Flag where you mean to be on November 4.
- New
World of Warcraft: Forever has its own board at /plans/worldofwarcraftforever, the same shape as the Legends and Monsters & Memories boards: who is planning to play, what they mean to roll, and what they are playing in the beta right now. Blizzard announced Forever at BlizzCon on September 12. It launches November 4, and the beta opens September 17. Old guildmates deciding where to roll are deciding this month, so the board is open now rather than at launch.
- New
The Forever flag form carries the eight original races plus the Skyborne, who pick a side at creation, so they appear as Skyborne (Alliance) and Skyborne (Horde). The nine original classes are all there, and the class picker dims the pairs Blizzard has not announced yet. It only dims; if you know something the list does not, pick it anyway.
- New
If you are in the Forever beta, the flag form can say so: pick the Beta stage and name the character you are playing, even if it is not the one you plan to keep.
- Improved
Forever is on the front page, in the World of Warcraft hover card, on the sitemap, and at the foot of the other two boards. Realms will show up on the flag form when Blizzard names them.
September 10, 2026
#The Monsters & Memories worlds have names, and the board has been busy since we last wrote.
- New
The five Monsters & Memories launch worlds are on the board: Estaire, Trem, Kravvin, Nunavoth, and Vespyra. Plant your flag on the one you mean to roll on, or go back to a flag you planted earlier and add it. Niche Worlds published the names this week. Until now the flag form could not ask which world, because there was nothing to answer with. Name reservation on their side opens September 21, so this is the week people start deciding.
- New
Monsters & Memories has its own board at /plans/monstersandmemories, with the same shape as the Legends board: who is planning to play, what they mean to roll, and what they are playing right now in the Open Playtest.
- New
The flag form for Monsters & Memories carries all 18 classes and 12 races, and dims the class picks the published race list does not include. It only dims; if you know something the list does not, pick it anyway.
- Improved
If you are playing the Open Playtest as the same character you plan to keep, the flag form has a one-click "Same as my plan" that copies the plan across instead of asking you to type it twice.
- New
Every row on a plans board now has a report flag. If a planned name or guild is there to offend rather than to be found, tell us, and the offending field can be hidden while the rest of the flag stays up.

#- New
MMO Reconnect is out of Early Access. The label is gone from the site, because the thing it hedged against no longer applies: search, claims, guild rosters, and the Legends board have been running steadily with real people finding each other on them. Early Access was a promise that things might shift under you. Five weeks in, they mostly haven’t — so the honest label now is simply: live. Improvements keep landing most days, same as before.
July 28, 2026
#EverQuest Legends is up, and the character you roll tonight can be claimed.
- New
Claims are open for EverQuest Legends. Pick your world, name the character you rolled, and the people you group with this week can find you here the same way they can on every other EverQuest server. Most people arrive here years after the fact, hunting for someone whose name they half-remember. This is the rare chance to be findable from the first night, before anyone has to remember anything.
- New
A Legends character can carry up to three classes, kept in the order you picked them. The first one is your primary and travels with your name across the site; all three show on your character’s page.
- New
The flag you planted turns into a link. If you planned a character on the Legends board and have since claimed one, that row now points at the character you actually rolled and is marked Claimed. You planted that flag before the servers were up, when the character was still a guess. Once the real one exists, the board should show that instead of the guess.
- Improved
Claiming a Legends character no longer asks which years you played. The game launched this year, so the form states the answer rather than handing you a menu with one option on it.
July 26, 2026
#Search got the front door it deserved, and its results now tell you what they actually found.
- Improved
Search now opens with the question it is really asking, “Who are you looking for?”, with the box sitting right underneath it. The page reads as a place to start rather than an empty results screen.
- New
Results now state what they found. A count sits above the list and beside each section, so you can tell whether you are seeing every match or only the beginning of one. When there are more matches than we show, we say “More than 50 matches” instead of dressing a partial count up as the real total. A number you cannot trust is worse than no number at all.
- Improved
Characters stay at the top and stay whole, and a long run of server matches folds away behind “Show all servers” until you ask for it. A common few letters can match dozens of server names and bury the one person you came here to find.
- New
If you only half-remember the name, Search now points you to Browse, the same way Browse already points you back to Search.
- Improved
The server filter now carries its region, so two realms that share a name are no longer the same entry.
July 25, 2026
#Browse now opens on the game you played, and every server and guild page has a shorter address.
- Improved
Browse opens on a game pick instead of a blended list of every world at once. Choose EverQuest or World of Warcraft and Browse remembers it next time. All games is still there as its own option whenever you want the cross-game view. Two franchises already share that list and more are coming. Starting in the world you actually played puts your people near the top instead of buried under someone else’s server.
- Improved
A selected game now carries its own two colors on the filter, so you can tell at a glance which world you are looking at.
- Improved
Server and guild pages have shorter, clearer addresses:
/games/eq/servers/bristlebaneinstead of the old/games/everquest/..., with each version spelled out after its game’s short mark (eq-project-1999,eq-project-quarm,wow-classic,wow-anniversary). These addresses get pasted into Discord and old forum threads, so they should be short to read and stable forever. Every one of them is now locked, which means a link that works today keeps working. - Fixed
Every server and guild link you already bookmarked or shared still works. Old addresses send you straight to the new one.
July 24, 2026
#MMO Reconnect has a new look: Slate Ledger 2.0, with a distinct identity for every game.
- Improved
The whole site moved to a calmer, near-black canvas. Color is now reserved for the things that matter, the person you are looking for and the one action to take, so the page never competes with what you came here to find. A quieter surface makes the signal louder. Brightness is a currency we spend on the reunion, not the chrome.
- New
Each game has its own two-color identity now: EverQuest in torchlit amber and sapphire, World of Warcraft in dark blue and bright gold, on refreshed, cleaner game marks.
- New
Server and guild pages now glow softly in their game’s own two colors, behind the game’s mark, a quiet welcome back for the people who played there.
- New
Hover a game badge on your roster to see which game it is, the exact version (Live, EverQuest Legends, Project 1999, Project Quarm, Classic, and more), and jump straight to browsing that world.
July 21, 2026
#Your roster now leads with your guilds, and shows who you can still reach.
- New
Hover or focus any guild name in your roster to see how many people from that guild you can still reach out to here. The whole point is finding each other again, so we surface who is still reachable right where you are remembering them.
- Improved
The expanded view of a character in your roster now leads with your guild history, larger and easier to read, with your choice of a compact horizontal band or a vertical timeline.
July 19, 2026
#Better ways to browse, and a smoother sign-in.
- New
Sort the Browse directory the way that suits you, including by the most recently active servers and guilds.
- Improved
Server and guild rows in Browse now show more at a glance, so you can tell them apart without opening each one.
- Improved
If you first signed up with email and later sign in with Discord using the same address, your accounts now link automatically instead of turning you away. One person, one account, however you choose to sign in.
- Fixed
Your own character page no longer shows the visitor-only prompts to report the claim or jump to the Discord.
July 18, 2026
#- Improved
Search results and the Browse directory now show each character's race alongside their class. A little more of the person you remember, before you even open their page.
July 17, 2026
#- New
Early Access is open to everyone. After a few quiet weeks of fixes and polish, MMO Reconnect is ready for you and your old guild to find each other again. This only works when word spreads, so if it is useful to you, share it with the people you used to play with.
- Fixed
Character history timelines now stay readable for characters with unusually busy or tightly packed histories, where dates could previously crowd together.
July 16, 2026
#More ways in, and a broken Discord link fixed.
- New
Sign in with a passkey, using your device fingerprint, face, or PIN. Nothing to remember and nothing we can leak, since the secret never leaves your device.
- New
Signed in with email but want to be reachable on Discord? Connect your Discord account from your settings.
- Fixed
The community Discord invite had stopped working. It now points to a permanent invite. The old link was tied to an account that left the server.
July 15, 2026
#- New
Sign in with a one-time email code, no Discord account required. Discord is still there if you prefer it; it is just no longer the only door.
- Improved
Signing in with Discord no longer asks for permission to add you to a server. We dropped a permission we did not need.
July 14, 2026
#Search gets filters, and claims get more room for history.
- New
Advanced search: narrow results by game, server, guild, character class, and approximate level. Turn a common name into the person you actually remember.
- Improved
Add several of a character's old guilds when you claim it, not just one.
- Improved
Edit the years you played a character after you have claimed it.
July 13, 2026
#A character's whole history, told as one arc.
- New
Character pages now show a history timeline: the arc of servers and guilds a character moved through.
- New
Link characters across a server transfer, a rename, or a re-creation, so a continuous history reads as one story. The ranger you rerolled as a paladin can finally be told as one person.
- New
The latest posts from the blog now appear on the homepage.
July 12, 2026
#- Improved
Character pages were redesigned around what matters: who owns the character, who recognizes them, and how to reconnect.
- New
Browse can now group claimed characters by game.
July 11, 2026
#- New
Your own area brings your profile, your character roster, and your settings together in one place.
- Improved
Set each character's visibility right from your roster, without opening it. Change a character from Findable to Public or Private in one tap.
July 10, 2026
#- New
The EverQuest Legends plans board is live. Flag that you will be there on day one, and see who else is planning to play. Reunions do not only look backward.
- Improved
Your account settings were reorganized into clear, labeled sections.
July 9, 2026
#- Improved
Claiming got a ground-up redesign: pick your game and edition first, then fill in the character. The old form asked for everything at once; now it reveals one step at a time.
- Fixed
Claiming a character you had already claimed used to show a confusing error. It now explains what happened and links you straight to your existing claim.
July 8, 2026
#- Improved
The homepage was rebuilt as a walkthrough of how a reunion actually happens, from claiming a character to reconnecting.
July 7, 2026
#- New
Hail a character to say hello. It is a quiet, one-way greeting, and if they hail back, you reconnect on Discord. Declines stay silent, so there is nothing awkward about reaching out.
- New
Block a character so they cannot see your claims or reach you.
July 6, 2026
#- New
A guided report and contact form, reachable from the footer, for flagging a problem or getting in touch.
July 1, 2026
#Early Access begins.
- New
MMO Reconnect is live in Early Access. Claim the EverQuest and World of Warcraft characters you played, and search for the guildmates you are trying to find. A user-driven reunion: the more of your old crew who claim in, the easier everyone is to find.
- New
Every character has its own visibility, Findable by default, or Public or Private when you say so. Privacy is the default, not a setting you have to go hunting for.
